Physics Programme

 

 

Brief history of the Programme

Physics Programme is one of the founding Programmes of the then Federal University of Technology, Bauchi. As at then, the first set of students were admitted in 1981/82 session, the Programme had one (1) Professor, one (1) Reader, 2 Snr. Lecturers, 4 Lecturers I and II, and 3 Asst. Lecturers and 2 students. The Programme graduated its first set of students in the 1987/88 session.

In order to boost the students' intake in the Programme and in line with the goals of a University of Technology , the Programme introduced the following courses as approved by Senate of the university:

B. Tech (Hons) Applied Geophysics

B. Tech (Hons) Physics Electronics

B. Tech (Hons) Engineering Physics

Vision and Mission :

To train and produce quality graduate that will self employed

Admission Requirements

In order to qualify to read for a B.Tech. Degree in Applied Physics, one must satisfy either of the following entrance requirements:

Five-Year Degree Programme (SSSC/WASC/GCE Candidates)
Candidate must satisfy all University entry requirements including the required five credits in relevant papers all obtained at not more than two sittings. The qualifying subjects must include credit passes in Physics and Mathematics at the West African School Certificate Examination or its equivalent.

Four-Year Degree Programme (Direct-entry Candidates)
Direct-entry candidates will normally enrol in the second year of the programme. To qualify for direct entry, candidates must satisfy the SSSC/WASC/GCE requirement, set out in paragraph three above. In addition, the qualifying subjects must include passes in Physics and Mathematics at the Advanced Level of GCE or equivalent.
