Estate Management Programme

 



Estate Management as a profession is aimed at optimising the use of land among competing claims of having regards to public goods fair share by correct owners of interest in the land and to facilitate economic development. Graduate in the field are exposed to fundamental principles of economics, valuation, land law and building construction.

Objectives

The programme has the following objectives:-

(i) Securing the technical knowledge of what constitutes land economy including the valuation or appraisal of Real Estate and Land Management.

(ii) Sensitising the general interest of Estate Management profession in the catchment area in ATBU.

(iii) Producing graduates that will be useful tools in advising members of the public, government department, statutory bodies, local government etc. on all matters relating to the profession.

(iv) Produce graduates who can apply modern computerized Land Management techniques to solve Land Management problems.

Admission Requirements

(i)Normal Admission

Candidates for admission through the entrance examination organised by JAMB must posses the Senior Secondary School Certificate passed at credit level to include the following: Mathematics and English Language and any other three subjects from Economics, Chemistry, Physics Surveying, Building Construction, Geology, Biology, Technical Drawing and Fine Arts.

(ii) Direct Entry Admission

Holder of Higher School Certificates (HSC)/GCE A' Level in Math's and either Economics or Accounting and OND/ND in Estate Management and related disciplines with pass at credit level, may be admitted into the 200 level of the programme. Such candidates will be required to make up for any deficiencies in their academic background.

(iii) Special Admission

Holder of the HND with pass at credit level with Estate Management background and who meet the requirement in (i) above may be expected to make-up for any deficiencies in their academic background.

Conditions for the Award of degrees

The programme is a five year full time undergraduate programme which incorporate a 12 months Industrial Training.The minimum load required is 160.
